Dessner’s Concerto for Two Pianos Returns to the US
Bryce Dessner, Katia Labèque, and Marielle Labèque

The Concerto for Two Pianos by Bryce Dessner is back in the United States, with two major performances this season featuring the towering piano duo of Katia and Marielle Labèque. November 30 through December 2, 2023, Semyon Bychkov leads the New York Premiere of the Concerto with the New York Philharmonic. April 18-20, 2024, Gustavo Gimeno leads its West Coast Premiere with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Both conductors are returning to this “meaty and sometimes haunting work” (Pitchfork) after recent respective outings with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra. Since the Concerto premiered in 2018, Dessner and the Labèques have begun touring with guitarist David Chalmin under the moniker of Dream House Quartet. Dessner’s first composition for the Quartet, Haven, was released along with the Concerto for Two Pianos by Deutsche Grammophon in 2019.
