New World by Robert Binet, set to music by Nico Muhly, will premiere as part of b.37 at Ballet am Rhein on November 23 2018. It describes the moment when the universe was created and the elements collided. Fire, water, earth, and air mingle in an explosive tension between light and darkness.

Robert Binet has chosen three pieces by Nico Muhly for the premiere of New World 9: Four Studies and Honest Music in newly commissioned versions for two violins and string ensemble, and the piano solo piece Quiet Music. The atmospheric landscapes evoked by his compositions Four Studies, Honest Music, and Quiet Music furnish Binet with the basis for a piece that fuses the extraordinary story of the creation of the universe with contemporary reality featuring costumes by New York designer duo Harriet Jung & Reid Bartelme. Jean-Michaël Lavoie will lead the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker.

Robert Binet is one of the most promising emerging talents of his generation. He was Choreographic Apprentice at Royal Ballet in London for 2012/13 and his currently work includes the post of Choreographic Associate at the National Ballet of Canada.
