YTTE (Yield To Total Elation) is a spellbinding twenty-two-minute piece by Nathaniel Stookey that premiered at the San Francisco Symphony’s SoundBox in April 2016. The work includes an optional part for OOVE, a kinetic sound sculpture designed by Oliver DiCicco; and can also be enhanced by stunning visuals created by Adam Larsen. Originally scored for chamber orchestra, the Las Vegas Philharmonic will give YTTE its full orchestral premiere on February 4, 2017.

'…the biggest success of the night followed, with another SFS commission, Nathaniel Stookey's YTTE (Yield To Total Elation)… The score lives up to its name, cresting and flowing melodically with thrilling immediacy. The visuals added to the exhilarating effect, but YTTE would probably raise goosebumps even in the dark'.
Philip Campbell, The Bay Area Reporter

Stookey writes, 'YTTE (Yield To Total Elation) is the name of an elaborate imaginary city created by San Francisco "outsider" artist A.G. Rizzoli beginning in the mid-1930s. I first came across it in a newspaper article and, from the moment I read those words, I thought: "This is how I want music to feel" '.

2016 also marks the tenth anniversary of Stookey’s internationally beloved The Composer is Dead, one of the top-five most-performed works of the 21st century. The sinister words of Lemony Snicket — who cleverly takes audiences through this orchestral whodunnit — are now available for performances in English, German, French, and Spanish.

Nathaniel Stookey is available to narrate The Composer is Dead and will be appearing with the San Francisco Symphony for their performance on March 11, 2017 at Davies Symphony Hall.
