Lyric-comic opera in four acts, nine scenes.

Synopsis:
In eighteenth century Seville, a rich middle-aged merchant Mendoza wants to marry Louise, the daughter of an impoverished nobleman, but he is tricked into marrying Louiseā€™s duenna, who has been masquerading as the young lady and who helps Louise and her brother marry those they really love.
