Biography

Polish composer Piotr Moss was born in Bydgoszcz on May 13th 1949. He studied at the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw from 1968 to 1972 with Grazyna Bacewicz and Piotr Perkowski. He also had some tuition from Krzysztof Penderecki then, in 1976, with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. He has won many awards over his career, including the Grand Prix de Rome in 1978 for Trois pensées, Frist Prize in the 1982 J. Cererolsa Competition in Montserrat for Salve Regina and First Prize in the Composition Competition in Brasilia for Stances, as well as a range of second prizes. His works range significantly from solo, to chamber to orchestral works, as well as some choral works and operas. He has experimented with compositional techniques such as aleatorism and sonorism and with exotic and ancient instruments and electronics.
