Sarah Kirkland Snider signs with G. Schirmer, part of the Music Sales Group

"I'm elated to join the Music Sales/G. Schirmer musical family. Their time-honored dedication to new music is extraordinary, and I'm immensely honored and excited to join the wonderful roster of composers they support," observed Snider.
Snider's works have been commissioned and performed by some of the most prestigious orchestras and soloists throughout the world, including the San Francisco, Detroit, Indianapolis, and North Carolina Symphonies, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, American Composers Orchestra, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra; violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, percussionist Colin Currie, and vocalist Shara Nova (formerly Worden); Ensemble Signal, The Knights, yMusic, and Roomful of Teeth, among many others.
Among her major works are her Penelope, a song cycle with lyrics by playwright Ellen McLaughlin which has been performed over forty times in the United States and Europe, and Unremembered, an hour-long, thirteen-part song cycle for seven voices, chamber orchestra, and electronics inspired by the poems and illustrations of writer/visual artist Nathaniel Bellows. Both of these works were released to critical acclaim by New Amsterdam Records (of which she is Co-Director), with Penelope being named No. 1 Classical Album of 2010 by Time Out New York and one of NPR's Top Five Genre-Defying Albums of that year, and Unremembered being named one of the Top Five Albums of 2015 by The Washington Post and The Nation.
Recent works include Something for the Dark, commissioned by the Detroit Symphony; Hiraeth, for orchestra with film by Mark DeChiazza, co-commissioned by the North Carolina Symphony and Princeton Symphony Orchestra; and Ouroboros, part of an immersive multimedia installation collaboration which was premiered at the BAM Next Wave Festival by the Young People's Chorus of New York and ACME. Upcoming projects include a work for violin and piano commissioned by Anne Akiko Meyers; Requiem for the Endangered, a mass for Trinity Wall Street Choir and NOVUS; a new collaborative commission for female vocalist and string orchestra; and The Living Light, an opera co-commissioned by Beth Morrison Projects and Opera Cabal.

Born and raised in Princeton, NJ, Snider has an M.M. and Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music. The 2013 winner of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Elaine Lebenbom Memorial Award, Snider has also received grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, Jerome Composers Commissioning Fund, New Music USA, and Opera America. In 2011, she was spotlighted in the NPR feature "100 Composers Under 40."
