World Premiere of Good Morning, Midnight by Judith Weir
The world premiere of Judith Weir’s much anticipated song cycle, Good Morning, Midnight takes place on June 6, 2015 at Wigmore Hall. The new 20 minute work for mezzo soprano and chamber ensemble will be performed by Sarah Connolly and the Aurora Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Collon. The work, commissioned by Wigmore Hall, is made up of 5 separate songs with old and new texts by Emily Dickinson, Kathleen Jamie, Charles Simic and Giacomo Leopardi.

Other works on the programme include Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Mendelssohn’s String Octet in E flat major. The performance starts at 7:30pm and there is an ‘Artist in Conversation’ event at 6:00pm in which Judith Weir will discuss the new work with Christopher Cook.

The composer will also be speaking about the inspiration behind the new piece live on BBC Radio 3's 'In Tune' programme on Monday at 5pm.
