The premiere of 'Stabat Mater', Blake's new dramatic oratorio for solo soprano, speakers, chorus and orchestra will be premiered on 18th May 2002 in Sherborne Abbey by the Choir of Winchester Cathedral and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Hill. 'Stabat Mater' was commissioned by the Summer Music Society of Dorset, the latest in a long line of important new works brought to life by the Summer Music Society under the guidance of Lady Digby. 'Stabat Mater' follows on from 'Benedictus', Blake's earlier choral work, performances of which have been a regular feature of choral society programming in the UK over the past twenty years.
